The opening scene of A Separate Peace shows Gene
returning to Devon after some years of absence. While I have not returned to
my high school since I have become a teacher, just returning to teach at any
high school reminds me of the old adage, "The more things change; the
more they remain the same." This was really brought home when I took my
wife to the first high school I taught in. As we walked through the door,
she said, "Do all schools smell the same? This smells just like my high
school."

Another change that has affected my life that relates to A
Separate Peace is the loss of a best friend. Kurt & I were very
close. We shared the same interests: baseball, girls, you know, the usual.
Without going into the gory details, I did something, something that made
Kurt really angry, and we have never seen each other since then. Now, even
though Kurt didn't die, he might as well have because he disappeared from my
life.
The above two scenarios are just an example of how you can make
a personal connection to the topic of your WebQuest. Another way of doing this
would be to include pictures with an explanation of how it relates to the topic
you have chosen. |
